New training module launched for healthcare professionals taking on the Designated Prescribing Practitioner (DPP) role

5th November 2024

A new module has been launched for healthcare professionals taking on the role of designated prescribing practitioner (DPP) for trainee independent prescribers. The aim of the module is to ensure that new or prospective DPPs have the underpinning knowledge to perform this role successfully.

The module can be used by all DPPs, regardless of their own discipline or that of their trainees. In the module, prospective DPPs will learn more about the DPP role, including the key documents, theories of teaching and learning, useful techniques for assessment and feedback, and how to develop their own skills as a DPP.

It is anticipated that the module will be particularly useful to healthcare professionals who will be supporting foundation pharmacists to complete their prescribing training prior to their full registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).
