We have recently split the Respiratory Medicine module within our Medicine and Surgery SCRIPT portfolio into two modules, titled: ‘Respiratory Medicine: Oxygen, Smoking Cessation and Inhalers’ and ‘Respiratory Medicines: Asthma and Croup’.
The two new modules cover the same content as the original module, but in a more digestible and focused format. Splitting the module into two has been timed to coincide with the release of the new NICE guideline “Asthma: diagnosis, monitoring and chronic asthma management”.
The modules now reflect the newly published guideline that a low-dose inhaled corticosteroid (ICS)/formoterol combination inhaler (e.g., Symbicort 200/6 Turbohaler®) is recommended on a when required basis for adults and children aged 12 and over. This is a significant change in clinical practice as, historically, salbutamol would have been used.
